As we discover and correct errors in the DCU/FDCU, we will post the updated .exe files here. To download, click on the link then select Save As. If you save the files directly to C:\Program Files\DCU, you won't have to move them after downloading. The location for the database and the password for the therapist will revert to the default settings. So if you've located the database file elsewhere and/or changed the password (and hopefully you have), you'll need to reconfigure these settings.
Please note. If you've not installed the DCU/FDCU programs, downloading these files won't give you the programs.
January 29, 2007. This cumulative update 1) fixes an error in scoring the Lifetime Consequences of the Drinker's Inventory of Consequences and 2) gives you the option to use norms from our online version of the DCU. Using these norms would be appropriate if your client/patient population is in a setting other than a substance abuse treatment program.
You'll need to download all three files for this update.
And now a note about HIPPA Compliance Issues
HIPPA has certain guidelines for protecting patient privacy in electronic databases. As we understand the guidelines, any database that is not in a secure location should not have any data in it that could personally identify patients. Practically speaking this means that if you are using the DCU and FDCU programs on a PC and have left the database (DCU.mdb) on that PC, then you need to remove personally identifying data from that file. Personally identifying information includes the patient's last name, address, and telephone number. You can delete this data for each patient in the Therapist's Module.
Once you've deleted that data for each patient in your database, download the updated DCU and FDCU programs and copy them into your C:\Program Files\DCU sub-directory. Then open the DCU.ini file and insert this line in the [Setup] section (the first section):
HIPPACompliant=Y
If you have the DCU.mdb file in a secure location (e.g., on a PC in your office that patients normally do not have access to), then you probably do not need to delete the patients' personally identifying data. We do recommend though that you download the updated DCU and FDCU programs. (These updated programs fix a number of problems we've discovered over the last year.) However, you can choose to not add the "HIPPACompliant=Y" line to your DCU.ini file.
