How to motivate pregnant patients to stop drinking
A Motivational Interviewing video for FAS prevention
We have developed a videotape for healthcare providers who work with pregnant women. Its purpose is to teach motivational interviewing skills to these providers so that they may be more effective in motivating their patients to abstain while pregnant. The goal is to prevent Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and other alcohol-related birth defects.
We have completed this project. A manuscript about the effectiveness of this training video is in press in Obstetrics & Gynecology and should be out in the February 1999 issue. The Addiction Research Foundation has also just reviewed our video.
We released this FAS prevention video in July, 1997. However, it won't be coming to a theater near you so you'll have to order it if you want to see it. To order your copy, surf on over to our Order Page, print a hard copy of it, fill it out and send it in with your check.
