Dr. Littlewood, is a licensed clinical psychologist who provides psychotherapy for individual and couples in Albuquerque, NM. She completed her doctorate in clinical psychology with an emphasis in health psychology at Syracuse University in New York and her internship at the Albuquerque Veterans Hospital and University of New Mexico Hospital. After completing a post-doctoral fellowship, specializing in treatment of substance use disorders, at The Mind Research Network, she joined Behavior Therapy Associates in 2011.
Dr. Littlewood works with adolescents and adults facing a variety of concerns including depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, health behaviors, and substance use problems. She also provides emotion-focused therapy (EFT) for individuals and couples, which can be helpful for individuals or couples who want to improve the health and quality of their relationships. Dr. Littlewood will work in collaboration with you to define the problem areas to be worked on and to support you in making the changes you want to make. Therapy can be a life-altering process as you gain new insights, shift how you perceive and deal with difficult emotions and situations, clarify what you want to create in your life, and take steps to manifest your goals. Dr. Littlewood’s conceptual framework in working with clients and couples in distress draws from acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), dialectic behavior therapy (DBT), and emotion-focused therapy (EFT). Each of these school of thought in psychology emphasize the contextual, interpersonal, and emotional influences on an individuals ability to regulate their emotions and behaviors to experience a sense of safety, stability, and contentment.
Dr. Littlewood also offers psychotherapy focusing on topics related to reproductive health. Reproductive health experiences are powerful and momentous in a woman’s life. Dr. Littlewood works with women in navigating and integrating experiences involved in preconception, pregnancy, pregnancy loss, infertility, postpartum, and motherhood. From a perspective that our thoughts, emotions, and physical experiences are connected in meaningful ways, you will be supported to develop knowledge and tools to manage the emotional ups and downs inherent to this path, develop self-compassion and healthy behaviors that support your goals, and ultimately to trust in your self and build a life you love.
Dr. Littlewood accepts several major insurance plans: True Health, Presbyterian, Fridays, Medicare, and Presbyterian Centennial (Medicaid). I do not accept insurance for couples therapy or family therapy (more detailed information regarding treatment for couples or families is available in the Intake & Consent Form for New Couples below).
